I have a new PC with win 11 pro. At first start I set PIN on login and email address as security option. When I entered email I wrote wrong it should be .com but wrote .com. an extra dot after .com

It worked fine with login and startup, but after a system update in windows PIN doesn't work, I should then get a code in the email. The email is wrong, so there is no code in the email. How do I get into the PC? Neither PIN nor email works.

Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

If the recovery email address is incorrect, you have two options here-

  1. Replace your Security Information - Sign in with your account on the link below. On the Verify your Identity screen, select 'I don't have any of these' and follow the prompts to replace the Security information. Note - If you do this process, the security information takes 30 days to take effect. So, you can only sign in to your PC after 30 days. https://account.live.com/proofs/Manage
  2. Factory Reset your PC and sign in with another Microsoft account - As your Previous security information takes 30 days to take effect, and you want to use the laptop at least, you can completely factory reset your PC from the Windows recovery environment and sign in with another Microsoft account. The important thing is that all of your files will be deleted from the HDD.

To do a factory reset, boot your PC in the WinRE. Here's how-

  1. Start your device and wait for the Windows logo (or the manufacturer's logo) to appear
  2. As soon as the Windows logo appears, press and hold the power button until the device shuts down
  3. Turn your device on again and repeat step 2
  4. Turn your device on a third time. Windows should display the __Automatic Repair __screen
  5. Select Advanced options > Reset this PC > Remove Everything and Proceed with Local reinstallation.

Let me know if you still need more help.
