For those having the duplicate SID problem:

I have successfully used SIDCHG64 on several machines, with no ill effects. Everything boots up fine after changing the SID. On one of of computers, Outlook required me to re-enter the email account passwords. SIDCHG is far less invasive than Windows Sysprep, and is very fast; it only takes about 2 minutes.

And oh yes, this DOES resolve the Networking issue, due to duplicate SID's.

Someone said it's a SID issue. If you cloned your machines, you may have issues.

I installed 8 Beelink Mini PCs. They come with Windows 11. You power then up and it does the windows install. Several do not work,

I have one that was working and is still working. I checked the SID and it was different then the main sharing system.

I looked at the failing systems SID and they were all identical.

I am currently looking at how to change it and what it will do the all the installed settings and software.I did uninstall the update and all is working but within a short time it gets reinstalled. I tried using showhide but it does not show the offending update.

Hi folks, I do believe I can report with some confidence it was the update, it did effect win 11 and win 10, and it was intentional by Microsoft. Its a security "improvement" because the level of security provided by credentials with SMBv1 is no longer considered good enough. Not a shock. I'll provide the links below to the update note and the CVE report that provides the rationale. Its valid, but ridiculous. Here's the relevant language from the update:

    • [File server] This update enabled auditing SMB client compatibility for SMB Server signing as well as SMB Server EPA. This allows customers to assess their environment and identify any potential device or software incompatibility issues before deploying the hardening measures that are already supported by SMB Server. For detailed guidance, see CVE-2025-55234.

I really don't want to replace the server and I really can't abandon the update chain. I'm really disappointed that Microsoft would abandon users like this. This is just the little guys. Enterprise stuff would have moved past SMB1 long ago just via momentum. It also makes me doubt ms will consider this a bug, or provide a workaround.

    Sadly, this is NOT solved.

This update broke Remote Desktop for me.
Computer A no longer could connect to Computer B.
Logs showed some sort of unknown error.
Tried bunch of things, noting helped.
    Deleted update, now everything works.

Bottom line you are using SMBv1 and need to move to SMBv2. Do you have any NAS boxes on the network?
