An Azure service that delivers high availability and network performance to applications.
Hello @Alan Au,
Hope you're doing well!
Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.
Microsoft has now confirmed Basic SKU Public IP addresses and Basic Load Balancers will be retired by 30 September 2025.
But there's a significant exception mentioned:
"If you have got any Basic SKU public IP addresses running in Azure Cloud Services (extended support), these deployments won't be impacted by this retirement, and you do not need to do anything about them."
If your Basic SKU Public IP addresses are associated with other services (e.g., Virtual Machines, Load Balancers, or other resource types), they will be impacted. You will need to migrate them to Standard SKU before the retirement date. If these resources are not deployed in Azure Cloud Services (extended support), they will no longer be supported or usable after the retirement date.
So, if your Basic SKU resources are running in Azure Cloud Services (Extended Support), they are not impacted by the retirement, and no action is required by those deployments.
To determine whether you're using Azure Cloud Services (Extended Support), check the type of service or deployment model associated with those IPs. If they are linked to classic cloud service deployments (often labelled as “Cloud Services (extended support)” in the Azure Portal), then you're in the clear.
