Managing sound and video settings during Teams meetings and calls for optimal communication
Hi @CHESS Khristina (Khris),
Thanks for your question for Microsoft Q&A Forum.
Regarding the issue of Microsoft Teams automatically muting your microphone when joining meetings after the recent update. I'd have to inform that this behavior appears to be intentional and part of a broader change to reduce background noise and interruptions.
Unfortunately, Microsoft has removed the option to control whether you're muted by default when joining a meeting. Previously, you could toggle this in the Devices settings, but that option no longer exists in the latest Teams versions.
Many users, like you, are requesting that Microsoft bring back the ability to choose whether to join meetings muted or unmuted. This feedback is being echoed across Microsoft forums, but there's no official timeline for restoring the feature.
These changes are part of Microsoft’s ongoing efforts to align with accessibility standards and improve the user experience across devices. We understand this may be a change from what you're used to, and we truly appreciate your patience. You can submit feedback to our product team on your behalf to bring back the old toggle feature.
