Undeliverable emails from ******@outlook.com

I have recently been receiving lots of emails from ******@outlook.com stating..

Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups:

******@hotmail.com (******@hotmail.com) The recipient's mailbox is full and can't accept messages now. Please try resending your message later, or contact the recipient directly.

I have not idea who this email belongs to and I certainly don't recognise it. How can I stop this happening? Thanks for any help.

Hi there,

I’m Cherrelyn, and I’m here to help.

If you're receiving undeliverable message notices for emails you didn’t send, it's possible that your email address was spoofed or used by a spammer to send messages. These bounced replies are called backscatter. While it doesn’t necessarily mean your account was hacked.

Please try these suggestion:

  • Change your password as a precaution.
  • Check your Sent Items for any suspicious activity.
  • Review your account’s activity history for unknown sign-ins.
  • Set up two-step verification if you haven't already.

Unfortunately, you can't fully stop bounce messages, but these steps will help protect your account and ensure it's not being misused.

I hope this will help and if you have any question please don't hesitate to reply to this thread.

Warm regards,

Cherrelyn
