How to enroll Windows 10 in Extended Security Updates - ARTICLE

Summary
In this community guide, I will show you how to enroll into Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU). Officially, Microsoft will end support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. As of this writing, Microsoft is offering Extended Security Updates for Windows 10 customers at no extra cost. Extended Security Updates will allow Windows 10 customers to receive updates for complete 1-year from October 14, 2025 to October 13, 2026. The enrollment process is quite simple and you can easily get enrolled to ESU using this community guide.
Requirements for Extended Security Updates
- You must be signed-in to Microsoft account on your Windows 10 device.
- Windows 10, Version 22H2 must be installed, along with update KB5046613 (Windows 10 build 19045.5131 or later).

Enroll for Extended Security Updates on Windows 10
On Windows 10 system meets above mentioned requirements, you can follow these steps to enroll for ESU.
- Open Settings app and go to Update and Security > Windows Update.
- At Windows Update page, under 'Windows 10 support ends in October 2025' heading, click on Enroll now.
Note: If you don't see the enroll option on your system, you need to wait, as Microsoft is gradually rolling out this option to devices. By mid of August 2025, you can get this option. If you're on Windows 10 Insider Preview build, you can use this option now. Insiders need to have KB5062649 or build 19045.6159 installed, which ensure a smoother enrollment experience.
- In the Enroll in Extended Security Updates window, click on Next.
- The you'll see You're eligible to enroll in Extended Security Updates at no extra cost screen. Click on Enroll button.
- Now your system will be enrolled to ESU and you'll see this screen.
- Finally, the enrollment process finishes with this screen. Click on Done button.
- Now you'll be back on Windows Update page. In the right side of screen, you can always see the confirmation of being enrolled in to ESU.
