How do you remove a tag / mention from a post in Viva Engage?

Thank you for your testing and summary. As per your suggestion I will post on the feedback site. Hopefully the community there see benefit and it gets voted up and into the Product Team's list of features to add.

Edit: Remove the mention tag when editing posts · Community (microsoft.com). Anyone who would see the feature added please vote at the link.

Also - While not specifically mention it is party a subset of this feedback Edit Posts after they have been published · Community (microsoft.com). Some of the points raised in this instance can partially resolved by commenting on your own post with the additional information.

To confirm - Yes, I was trying to remove the Tag, rather than the text @mention. Your conclusions align with experience in that you cannot remove the tag.

If you edit and go to add additional people in the tags (directly, rather than via a @NAME in the text) you can add new people and remove the ones who have been added in the current edit but not existing tags.

Hopefully in the future we will see a X added in for the existing tags as seen next to my name above.

For the 2nd question, testing with my colleagues also showed they could not remove the tag as per the expected behaviour of not being able to edit other people's posts. I thought it best to ask / check considering I wasn't able to find the functionality while editing my post.

The only solution at this stage appears to be to delete the entire post and repost with the correction.

As per your description, it seems that you are trying to remove a tag/mention from a post in Viva Engage.

To help you better, we'd like to confirm if you are trying to remove the @ mention in post in Viva Engage? If yes, we've also done a quick test and we cannot remove the mention tag even we've deleted delete the @mention in post when we click on edit as shown below:

And we've done a lot of searches, however, we have not found an out of box way to remove the tag currently, sorry for the inconvenience caused. Given this, we'd recommend you share your valuable feedback about this behavior in Microsoft Viva Engage · Community, the Product Team is in-charge of the feedback site, and they are constantly checking the comments and feedback from our customer. Many features have been developed or improved based on users' comment. This is the quickest route to get your feedback to the developers’ ears. 

Meanwhile, as per the official article has shared, "Editing is only available on your own posts and comments. For your reference: Edit your communications in Viva Engage - Microsoft Support

For the concern "Can the person who was tagged remove their tags/mentions?", the short answer might be no if the person is not the one who post/comment in Viva engange.
