As Bob has explained, file embedding uses a Windows technology that has very limited support in Office for Mac. As an alternative, place the PDF in the same folder as the PowerPoint file. Then create a hyperlink to the PDF. This should create a relative link that will work when the pair of files are moved to a different computer.

    Dear respected  igor kottman,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

As per your description, I'm Sorry and I'm afraid, in PowerPoint for Mac OS, currently we cannot insert PDF file into PowerPoint presentation directly.

We feel your pain due to this limitation and we’re really feel sorry for it. However, we appreciate your understanding.  I do understand the inconvenience and apologize for it.

However, as a workaround, you may Save the PDF as a picture and then insert the picture. Also, the Insert> Picture method supports the PDF file type even though Insert> Object dos not.

Appreciate your patience and understanding and thank you for your time and cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Waqas Muhammad

Object Linking & Embedding [OLE] is specific to the Windows environment. It never has been supported by Apple. On a Mac you can link/embed Word & Excel documents into other Excel & Word documents. You can embed either in PPt files.
