Hi

Make sure your software is up to date.

NSTALL UPDATES:

How to check your version of Office:

If you can open your Office application go to the application menu. For example, in Microsoft Word, go to the Word menu. Then choose About Word. The resulting dialog tells you which version you have.

If you can’t open your Office application, in Finder, go to the Applications folder. Right-click on the application and choose Get Info from the menu.

If your version of Office is currently 14.anything or lower, your software will not run in Catalina or Big Sur. You might consider using LibreOfficeto replace Microsoft Office. LibreOfficeis a free, mostly compatible desktop suite. Microsoft has a free, on-line version of Microsoft Office at OneDrive.com, which is also a good substitute for newer versions of Mac OS if you don’t mind the hassle of having to use the web.

If your version of Office is currently 15.anything, follow these instructions to install Microsoft Office updates:

Download a copy of the current version of AutoUpdate from this link, install and then run AutoUpdate to bring your installation to current update level, then restart your Mac. If the updater does not open automatically after download, double-click the downloaded .pkg file. Click this link to download the updater. The update is free.

Hi Kenneth Hoffman,

Sorry for the inconvenience caused at your end.

Per my search for the error message, it may not relate to memory of Mac. It may be a generic error which can be triggered by other things.

Does the error message appear when you save a specific document or different documents?

You may create a new document, manually copy the content from the original document and paste it in the new one, try to save new document with a different name and check the outcome.

You may also save the document to a different location on your Mac or online location such as OneDrive.

Besides, you may try following troubleshooting steps:

1.Validate Fonts, check if the issue is caused by the fonts you installed.

Go to Font Book application > click File > Validate Fonts

2.Disable Office add-ins, check if the issue is caused by 3rd party add-ins you installed.

Apple menu > System Preferences > Extensions > All categories to disable all third-party extensions.

3.Reboot Mac in safe mode. This helps you determine if any background program is causing the issue.

If issue persists, I would appreciate if you could confirm information below for the further troubleshooting:

1.What is your Office version and macOS version?

2.Please also share a screenshot of the error.

Thanks for your patience and effort.

Have a nice day and stay safe!

Best Regards,

Tina
