Change my Microsoft account from personal to business

I have an existing Microsoft account and am looking to purchase Office 365 for my small business. However, when I try to purchase, I receive a response stating that the account is managed by the organization. When I login into my account I can only purchase home or family versions of apps.

It has been some time since I created the account, but I obviously did something wrong to have the account recognized as personal. I have looked as much as I can, but I can't seem to find any answers. Should I just delete my existing account and start over?

    Nik,

I apologize. I did not represent the issue properly. I have a Microsoft account, not a Microsoft 365 account. Whenever I log into my Microsoft account I am only offered Microsoft 365 'family' plan.

If I go to the web and just try to purchase Microsoft 365 for business I get a message stating "you are currently signed in as xxxxx@mydomainname This account is managed by your organization. If you want to sign up for Microsoft 365 Business Standard, you'll need to set up a new account to manage yourself, or ask your organization administrators to purchase on your behalf.

I don't want to set up a new account, as the current account is the email address I use for my business. I am a small business, so there is no organizational administrators to purchase on my behalf.

Any assist you could provide would be appreciated

    Hi MikeThomas1723,

I'm Nik, an independent advisor here to assist you with this.

May I know if you are trying to purchase Microsoft 365 business to your personal email address like (Gmail, Outlook, Hotmail, Live etc or work/school account (your organization IT department manages)?

Have you purchased a private domain(purchased from domain provider e.g. GoDaddy) and registered to your organization?

    Regards

    Nik
