How to edit or cancel recurring meetings for Teams without sending multiple emails.

When I make changes or cancel recurring meetings in Teams, it sends around 90 emails to those invited to invite them to all of the new meetings.  Is there a way to not send mass emails to each participant?

Hi AdamK83,

Thanks for posting here!

When you invite someone else to a meeting and click on the Send Update button, you will get a prompt asking if you want to send the update to everyone, or just to the added or deleted attendees. You can just Send updates only to added or deleted attendees to avoid flooding everyone else’s inbox with more needless email.

If you make a change of a meeting, you may need to employ a workaround to prevent Outlook from automatically sending out an update. The key is to put the software in offline mode. You do this by going to the Send/Receive tab and then clicking Work Offline. Now, head back to the meeting update and make your changes. Outlook will try to send out the update, but because the software is offline, it will be unable to complete the operation. If you head into your outbox, you will see the update message hanging there. If you delete it and then put the software back online, you will have updated your meeting without bothering people with the email updates.

If you need to delete a meeting from your calendar and do not want to send updates, try this:

#1. Open the meeting you want to delete, go to File and the click on Move to Folder, select the Deleted Items folder.

#2. A dialog will come up: Responses to this meeting will not be tallied. If you want Outlook to tally responses for you, move the meeting to the Calendar folder for this account. Click the OK button.

#3. Close the Meeting.

#4. The meeting is now cancelled without sending any emails.

I hope it is helpful to you, welcome back to us if there are any queries.

Thanks,

Linda

Will there ever be an option other than this workaround?

Teams does not have that feature. Only Outlook will allow you to Send updates only to added or deleted attendees.

This needs to be added to Teams without having to go back and do a "workaround" in Outlook. Because usability.

I'm trying to send an update from an email group so I don't have that email group outbox accessible for this workaround. Please fix this. It's clunky and causes confusion. It would be as simple as how it's done with Outlook by "send updates only to added or deleted attendees"
