Teams - as a teacher is it possible to bulk add students to a Team?

I am creating a 'master' class of all of my periods of the same subject.  I have a list of the students (their student email addresses) and would like to add them in bulk, but nothing seems to work.  I've tried using tabs, commas, semi-colons as delimiters between each student's entry.

Thoughts?  Thanks, -Dwight Lillie

Hi Dwight Lillie,

Thanks for posting in the community.

According to your description, here are the suggestions you could try:

  1. If you have already created a team with all the students, you could choose the option “Create a team using an existing team as a template” and tick Members options, then click Create.

  1. You could create a .csv file and run PowerShell command to add bulk users. It works well on my side.

Please view this article and follow the steps: Adding bulk users from a .csv file to a Microsoft Teams team

Note: if you are unable to run the command connect-MicrosoftTeams, please try the following command:

Uninstall-Module MicrosoftTeams

Install-Module -Name MicrosoftTeams -RequiredVersion 1.0.0

Then connect the service again.

  1. You could add a group in the Add Members interface.

If you have any updates, please feel free and come back to share with us.

Regards,

George

    Hi Dwight Lillie,

Try the following command, it will display the specific team information:

    Get-Team -DisplayName "Team name"

Yep, done all of that.  Can't get the group-id.  When I execute the get-team it just hangs ... forever
