Reset the OneDrive Sync Client

Technical level: Intermediate

Description:

In this article, you can find information, on how to reset the OneDrive Client. If you have problems with the synchronization (Sync Icons are not correct showed, synchronization errors, synchronization stops, etc.), you can try to resolve those with a reset of the OneDrive Client.

Detailed steps:

    1. Stop the sync with the new client by Right Click on OneDrive Icon (blue cloud icon)
  1. Select Settings
  2. Go to Account and select ā€œUnlink this PC"
    1. Open registry editor.

Click the Windows symbol + RĀ  and type "regedit"

If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password, or provide confirmation.

    1. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\Onedrive\Account

Delete Business 1 (and all Business) keys.

    1. Then Run (Windows Key+R)
  • Ā %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\OneDrive.exe /reset
  • Ā %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\Settings and delete all folders in ā€žSettingsā€œ
    1. Then Start OneDrive again
