New Win11 PC refuse to move folder location from OneDrive to local PC

I had a OneDrive on Windows 10 only for public sharing some pictures

Since I got my new Windows 11 computer I have a problem with a folder and OneDrive

The new computer automatically put my usual Documents and Pictures folder plus all contents on OneDrive not my local PC

I prefer such things stored locally

Somewhere I found information on how to change this

I managed to change Documents (I forget how I did it) to local PC storage but Pictures remains stubbornly stuck on OneDrive

Under OneDrive Settings > Sync and Backup I turned 2 things off

Save photos and videos from devices

Save screenshots I capture to OneDrive

The computer still registers the OneDrive Pictures

Worse I also have a program Ubisoft Connect that puts screenshots on the OneDrive Pictures folder

I tried changing it but it refuses to change

I contacted Ubisoft about it, everything they had me try does not fix the problem

They said I should contact Microsoft about it because it might be connected to my problem of not moving the Pictures folder from OneDrive to local PC

How do I finally get my PC to recognize that I want Pictures stored locally, not on OneDrive?

Hi, I'm Ric, an independent advisor. I'm sorry you're experiencing this issue.

To Move the Pictures Folder Back to Local Storage:

    1. Right-click the Pictures folder (even if it's showing under OneDrive).
    2. Select Properties.
    3. Go to the Location tab.
    4. Click Restore Default, or choose a new local folder.
    5. Click Apply, then confirm the move.

If the Location tab is missing, OneDrive may still have control.

    Then, Unlink Pictures from OneDrive:

    1. Open OneDrive Settings (click the cloud icon in the system tray).
    2. Go to Sync and Backup > Manage Backup.
    3. Turn off backup for Pictures if it's still on.

Once the folder is moved and unsynced, your apps (like Ubisoft Connect) should start defaulting to the local path. You might need to restart the PC or reinstall the app if it keeps writing to the old OneDrive path.

Hope this helps, otherwise, I would be happy to assist you further.
