Error 0x00000709 Printer

Hello,

I get some problems with the Printer after running the file ".bat" to cancel all queues. My laptop is usually stuck with multiple print jobs.

I can't clear all those because the first print job always loads the printing status, which can't be deleted.

So i'm looking for some solution that can completely delete all print jobs. And i founded this way.

I'm using the file ".bat" which has 3 commands below:

net stop spooler

del% systemroot% System32 spool Printer * / Q / F / S

net start spoolerD

I saved and ran this ".bat" file as an administrator.

In the Settings Printers menu, i see that the status of all printers is not connected. But when i select one of them, the printer status is Idle. It means I can print.

The printes Status

Then i checked all my printer queues, it just shows a blank message board and closes itself and when i checked my printer using print test page, it gives me an error notice is 0x00000709

Error code

Video describe the error

I tried to delete my printer and reinstall and edit some keys from regedit but nothing worked.

The article i refer to

I can't find the path [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Printers\RPC]

no path printers

It isn't the same as shared printer error. It was because i ran the ".bat" file to delete the queue which caused the error.

Help me. How can i fix this?

Hi Nguyễn,

Thank you for bringing this up and for the detailed summary of the issue. I also appreciate your effort and the screenshots. I’m Adrian, an independent advisor, and I will do my best to help you on this.

First, just to clarify a few quick things.

  1. Is this a USB or network/shared printer?
  2. Does this happen with all printers, or only one specific printer?
  3. What is the brand and model of the printer?
  4. Is this a home printer, or are you connected to a corporate/domain environment?
  5. Do you have any third-party print software installed (like PaperCut, Xerox tools, etc.)?

In the meantime, here's what you can try.

Step 1) Your current .bat file has a mistake. Here's the corrected version

net stop spooler
del /Q /F /S "%systemroot%\System32\spool\PRINTERS\*"
net start spooler
Make sure you save it with the .bat extension and run it as administrator. This will clean up the stuck jobs properly.

Step 2) Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters
Scroll down to Printer and click Run
Let it detect and fix issues related to the spooler or printer configuration.

Step 3) If you’re still getting 0x00000709, try this:
Press Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter
Go to this key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
Find these values and delete them (or rename them to .old if you want to be safe)

Device
LegacyDefaultPrinterMode
Close the Registry Editor

Important: Always back up the registry before editing by going to File > Export. And be very careful when editing the registry; incorrect changes can cause system issues.

Step 4) Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners
Remove all related printers
Press Win + R, type printui /s /t2, and press Enter
Remove any leftover drivers for that printer
Restart your computer
Reinstall the printer using the latest driver from the manufacturer’s website

Step 5) Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter
Find Print Spooler, double-click it

Go to the Dependencies tab and make sure Remote Procedure Call (RPC) is listed and running

If after all this, the printer still shows the same error 0x00000709, and it started only after running the .bat file, it’s likely tied to a corrupt spooler service or misregistered printer path. We can try to repair the system first by running this command

sfc /scannow
in Command Prompt (Admin) to check and repair system files.

Let me know your answers to the 5 questions above and how these steps go. I’ll keep working with you until this is fully resolved.

Best regards,
Adrian

    Hi Nguyễn,

Thank you for the detailed follow-up, screenshots, and for working through each of the steps. It is really helpful.

Here's what you can do next.

Once you're back and can reinstall the real printers:

    1. Go to Ricoh’s official site and download the latest IM C4500 Windows 11 driver (make sure it’s not a generic driver).

For the Zebra ZD230, download the latest Zebra Setup Utilities and driver pack for your exact model.

    1. Check Default Printer Setting

After reinstalling, go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners

    Select Ricoh or Zebra

    Click "Set as default."

Also make sure Windows isn't auto-managing the default printer

    Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners

Turn off “Let Windows manage my default printer.”

Then try to print a test page.

The LegacyDefaultPrinterMode regenerating is normal, especially on newer Windows 11 builds. It's safe to leave. If you ever run the .bat file again, always restart the PC right after.

Let me know the results once you've reconnected at work and reinstalled the drivers. You're definitely on the right track now.

I'll stay with you on this until your printers are working 100% again.

    Best regards,

    Adrian

    Hi Adrian,

    Here are the answers:

    1. We are using both a network-connected printer and a USB printer
    2. Yes, this problem happens with all printers I have installed.
    3. The network printer is Ricoh IM C4500, and the USB printer is Zebra ZD230 ( I uninstalled it )
    4. This is just a printer connected to the internal network, no domain system.
    5. No, I don't.

    I tried 5 steps above

Step 1: I ran ".bat" file using your command, and this is the Result. So after running, it automatically closed.

    Result after running config

Step 2: I used the Windows troubleshoot and the system automatically took me to get help. I'm not sure if the troubleshooting system on Windows 11 has any improvements, but using it is really not useful, and it can't run the troubleshooting system like Windows 10.

    Get helps?

Step 3: I deleted the keys that were in the list you listed, but with "LegacyDefaultPrinterMode" it automatically generates a similar key when I delete it

    Hkey removed

Step 4: As in the image from my post, i only have 3 printers, which are Ricoh C4500, Microsoft PDF printer, and OneNote. I deleted the drivers of the first 2 printers, and left only OneNote to check if the troubleshooting steps work or not. And I can't reinstall the other printers right now because I'm not at work. I will try reinstalling them tomorrow.

    Drivers Removed.

Step 5: The Printer Spooler is always running. I don't know if the 2 RPC properties in the Dependencies tab have any effect, but I can't manipulate or change any parameters related to them.

    Printer Spooler

And finally, I'm running the command "sfc /scannow" and this is the result.

    Repair result

*Update: While writing this reply and after I had uninstalled the drivers of the other 2 printers, I checked the printer list again and saw that Onenote still had the error not connected, but after running the steps as in step 1 many times and running the command "sfc /scannow", now I see that Onenote no longer shows the error not connected. This means it can print, but I'm not sure. I will try again with other printers when working.

    Onenote doesn't have problem
