Hi Nguyễn,
Thank you for bringing this up and for the detailed summary of the issue. I also appreciate your effort and the screenshots. I’m Adrian, an independent advisor, and I will do my best to help you on this.
First, just to clarify a few quick things.
- Is this a USB or network/shared printer?
- Does this happen with all printers, or only one specific printer?
- What is the brand and model of the printer?
- Is this a home printer, or are you connected to a corporate/domain environment?
- Do you have any third-party print software installed (like PaperCut, Xerox tools, etc.)?
In the meantime, here's what you can try.
Step 1) Your current .bat file has a mistake. Here's the corrected version
net stop spooler
del /Q /F /S "%systemroot%\System32\spool\PRINTERS\*"
net start spooler
Make sure you save it with the .bat extension and run it as administrator. This will clean up the stuck jobs properly.
Step 2) Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters
Scroll down to Printer and click Run
Let it detect and fix issues related to the spooler or printer configuration.
Step 3) If you’re still getting 0x00000709, try this:
Press Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter
Go to this key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
Find these values and delete them (or rename them to .old if you want to be safe)
Device
LegacyDefaultPrinterMode
Close the Registry Editor
Important: Always back up the registry before editing by going to File > Export. And be very careful when editing the registry; incorrect changes can cause system issues.
Step 4) Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners
Remove all related printers
Press Win + R, type printui /s /t2, and press Enter
Remove any leftover drivers for that printer
Restart your computer
Reinstall the printer using the latest driver from the manufacturer’s website
Step 5) Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter
Find Print Spooler, double-click it
Go to the Dependencies tab and make sure Remote Procedure Call (RPC) is listed and running
If after all this, the printer still shows the same error 0x00000709, and it started only after running the .bat file, it’s likely tied to a corrupt spooler service or misregistered printer path. We can try to repair the system first by running this command
sfc /scannow
in Command Prompt (Admin) to check and repair system files.
Let me know your answers to the 5 questions above and how these steps go. I’ll keep working with you until this is fully resolved.
Best regards,
Adrian
