I have the same problem using laptop, PC, or surface 11 pro tablet. It must be a bug in win 11 update. Shame on Microsoft. They don't du anything to fix it.

    Dear Slawek,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

Based on your description, it sounds like the spellchecking feature is not working across all your Windows 11 devices, including your laptop, desktop PC, and Surface Pro 11. This may be related to system settings, language preferences, or a recent Windows update. Please try the following methods to troubleshoot and restore spellchecking functionality:

    1. Check Typing and Language Settings

Spellcheck is managed through typing and language preferences:

    • Go to Settings → Time & Language → Typing.
    • Under Spelling, ensure the following options are turned On:
    • Autocorrect misspelled words
    • Highlight misspelled words

Also, confirm your display and input languages:

    • Go to Settings → Time & Language → Language & region.
    • Make sure your preferred language (e.g., English [United States]) is set as the Windows display language.
    • Click the three dots next to it → Language options → Ensure the Basic typing and Spelling language packs are installed.
    1. Check App-Specific Settings

If you're experiencing the issue in apps like Word, Mail, or Edge:

    • In Microsoft Word: Go to File → Options → Proofing. Make sure “Check spelling as you type” is enabled.
    • In Mail/Outlook: Click on Settings (gear icon) → Spelling or Proofing options and verify settings are enabled.
    • In Microsoft Edge: Go to Settings → Languages → Enable Spellcheck for your language(s).
    1. Run Windows Troubleshooter

Windows has built-in troubleshooters that can help resolve language and input issues:

    • Go to Settings → System → Troubleshoot → Other troubleshooters.
    • Run the Keyboard troubleshooter.
    • Also run Windows Update troubleshooter in case the issue is related to a recent update.
    1. Reinstall the Language Pack

Corrupt or partially installed language packs can break spellcheck:

    • Go to Settings → Time & Language → Language & region.
    • Remove your current language, then add it back:
    • Click the three dots next to the language → Remove
    • Click Add a language, reselect your preferred language, and reinstall it.
    • Restart your device after reinstalling.
    1. Check for Windows Updates or Rollback (if needed)

This issue may be tied to a recent update:

    • Go to Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates.
    • If the problem started after a specific update, go to Update history → Uninstall updates, and consider rolling back the update temporarily to see if it resolves the problem.

If this is a widespread bug introduced by a recent Windows 11 update, Microsoft is likely already investigating. Ensure you’ve submitted Feedback Hub reports to help escalate the issue:

    • Press Windows + F, describe the issue clearly, and submit it.

    Thank you for your patience.

Let us know which apps you’re experiencing the issue with, or share screenshots of your settings, so we can assist you further.

    Best regards,
