Hi

I have been having a problem with my system restarting randomly

in event viewer the event was as stated

The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

Kernel-Power 41

Event viewer also tells me the reason as well

Connectivity state in standby: Disconnected, Reason: NIC compliance Kernel-Power 172

Hi and thanks for reaching out. My name is William. I'm a Windows technical expert. I'll be happy to help you out today.

When you say the computer is restarting, is it logging off before this or does it happen abruptly, present you with a blue screen and a hexadecimal stop code?

if so, when your system crashes it will create a dump file(s) in C:\Windows\Minidumps. We can analyze those files for the potential cause of the system halting. Can you upload the .dmp file(s) to OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox or some other file sharing service and share the link here?

    Hi William

The system just abruptly shuts down then immediately restarts and waits at the sign in screen for me to sign in.

I have checked for a dump file and it seems the system has not created one, no blue screen at all, I thought I had this problem sorted a few weeks ago this is the first random restart now, it's something I am afraid that it'll get worse in time.

Run msinfo32.exe > go to File > Save and Can you upload the file to OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox or some other file sharing service and share the link here. Additionally, can you provide your event logs? These can be located in the Windows Event Viewer > Windows Logs > right-click both Application and System > Save events as...

Nothing stands out in the event logs. i can see where the computer resumed from improper shutdown but there are no events right before that happens that offer any clues as to what triggered it.

My first suggestion would be to make sure your MB drivers and BIOS (I can see there is 2018 update regarding BIOS) are up to date: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/Z170-P/Hel...

Otherwise, there could be a problem with the power supply or the MB itself but there is limited information available to troubleshoot any further.
