If you are trying to download the available hotfix, you may contact our Microsoft Customer Service & provide them the kb 888111 article which contains the hotfix.

    Figured it out!

    1. Launch the program you downloaded. It will extract itself into the C: drive.
    2. Open the zip file. Open the "us" folder. Open the "x86fre" folder. Launch "kb888111xpsp2.exe".
    3. You will see a dialog box that claims there is no need to install this update. Before clicking OK, find the folder in the C: drive with a bunch of letters and numbers. Open it and copy the "commonfiles" folder to another location, maybe your Documents folder or Desktop. When you dismiss the error dialog, the folder will be deleted from the C: drive.
    4. Open Device Manager (Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > System Tools > Device Manager).
    5. Expand "Sound, video, and game controllers".
    6. Find the device that has an exclamation mark on its icon. Right-click on it and click "Update Driver...".
    7. Select "Install from a list or specific location". Click Next.
    8. Select "Search for the best driver in these locations." Unselect "Search removable media". Select "Include this location in the search:". Click Browse and locate the "commonfiles" folder you copied earlier. Click Next.
    9. The wizard will install drivers for your audio device. If the "Found New Hardware" wizard appears, follow the same steps.

    Your audio device should now be installed. Please reply if you need any more help.

    Now I have a new problem: How do I install it? The hotfix refuses to install itself because I have SP3, not SP2. Is there a way to trick the hotfix into installing?
