My personal Microsoft account is being treated as a work or school account due to a ghost Azure AD identity. I never created or joined an organization. I can log into https://portal.azure.com, which confirms the issue. Office apps are blocking me from signing in, saying: ‘You can't sign in here with a personal account. Use your work or school account instead.’ I need help removing the Azure AD identity so my account is recognized only as a personal Microsoft account. - This is a personal Microsoft account being treated as a work/school account. Hello @Sami,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A Platform and thank you for reaching out.

I understand that your personal Microsoft account is being recognized as a work account, and you are able to log in to https://portal.azure.com. However, when trying to sign in to Office apps, you encounter the following error: “You can't sign in here with a personal account. Use your work or school account instead.” This may be because your personal account is associated with a work tenant.

You are now seeking guidance on how to remove the Entra ID tenant association from your personal Microsoft account.

    Kindly follow these steps:

1.Log in to https://portal.azure.com (since you mentioned you can access it)

2.Select the "View Account" option under your profile on the right side of your screen, as shown below.

3.You’ll be redirected to this page: https://myaccount.microsoft.com/.

4.In the "MyAccount" tab, go to "Organizations" to view the list of accounts provisioned to your tenant.

    1. Your personal account will be visible here. Use the "Leave" option to remove the tenant association from your personal Microsoft account.
    2. Afterwards, close all tabs and try logging in to Office apps with your personal Microsoft account.

Kindly let us know if the above helps or you need further assistance on this issue.

Please "Accept the answer" if the information helped you. This will help us and others in the community as well.

    Thanks
