Surface Earbuds batteries worn out in case and in buds?

Hi.

I bought Surface Earbuds in September 2020 and use them now for 3 years and 9 months frequently within noisy environment at about 80% volume level. While at the beginning I could use them in Teams meeting (i.e. with the microphone) for 4 hours continuously, now the earbuds last only about 1 hour and run out of battery and I need to put them into case to charge. It is a typical sign of being worn out of the battery. Yet the case charges till full (no flashing, white light), and Surface Program shows 100% earbuds charge. I turned off the aptX audio to save battery, but there is no performance change.

  1. If and which part has the batteries worn out (i.e. case or buds or both)?
  2. Can the batteries be substituted and at what cost? The Surface Earbuds are/were about 200 EUR.
  3. Any other suggestion to have longer work in meetings (except lowering the volume level, which I sometimes cannot do due to noisy environment)?

Kind regards

MarcinB

    Hello MarcinBalcerzyk,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

If the Surface Earbuds you're using were purchased in 2020, they've been in use for almost four years.

The Surface Earbuds is just like any other electronic device, with continuous use, the battery will indeed be constantly worn. So if you need to replace the battery or repair the Earbuds, I can direct you to the Surface Earbud support team.

As for your third point here, I actually recommend that you try using one headset at a time, so that you can charge one headset while continuing to participate in a meeting with the other:

Charge Surface Earbuds - Microsoft Support
