Hi,
Thanks for responding. I tried all of the above but it did not work yet. I am in doubt whether my surface laptop 4 has DP alt mode?

Hello,
I bought a portable monitor: Asus ZenScreen MB166C that has dp alt mode enabled. It should be plug and play with my AMD Ryzen 7 Microsoft Surface laptop 4 but there is no screen projection. The monitor does receive power from the laptop but no video signal through the Asus provided usb-c cable. I'm starting to wonder, is my usb-c connector in my laptop dp alt mode enabled? And if so, to what version?
I did not expect this result from laptop. It's up to date, runs on W11. Anybody an idea if the Surface laptop 4 has dp al mode and how I might fix this? On other hardware devices my usb-c connector responds correctly (exempt dp alt mode so far).
Best regards,
Maarten

Hi,
Thanks for responding. I tried all of the above but it did not work yet. I am in doubt whether my surface laptop 4 has DP alt mode?
I found out that there different versions of display port alt mode. The screen I bought was not compatible with my surface laptop 4. The versions of display port alt mode did not match. I also found out that it was not something I could have known from the beginning.
I switched to another brand portable screen, that worked as intended. Maybe a gamble at that point, but I knew that I had to do something.
Eventually I started looking for screens within a respectable price range. I ended up with a brand called Arzopa. Their screens have an ok price / quality range. The screen glas is kinda fragile tho, I dropped one on my floor (wooden floor) and sadly the glass got cracked.
Besides that I have positive on the performance. The only thing that worries me, is the fact that my AV called out a phishing webpage while I was searching through their platform for a new screen ( I searched the US page while I live in EU). The URL got blocked and present to me so I could query it in virus total. 12 other vendors flagged as a phishing URL.
That's weird right?
Hello Maarten,
Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.
I appreciate you raising this concern to us, and I understand that you're having issues with your Surface, projecting displays.
It seems you’re encountering an issue with your Asus ZenScreen MB166C portable monitor not displaying video signal when connected to your Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 via USB-C. Let’s troubleshoot this together:

Hello Maarten,
Thank you so much for the response and sorry to hear that the issue persists to happen.
However, to answer your question, yes, Surface Laptop 4 indeed supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode (DP alt mode) via its USB-C port. Since issue persisted after doing all those mentioned steps and also upong checking on this link: ASUS ZenScreen MB166C|Monitors|ASUS Philippines, there are no drivers for Windows 11 that you can download.
Thus, I recommend you contacting ASUS support to ask for further options and assistance on this matter.
It has been a pleasure assisting you and hopefully it helps.
Best wishes,
Rolando S.
