Random BSODs playing GTA on newly built PC

I have been getting random blue screens every few days while playing GTA V on my new PC. All of my drivers are up-to-date, including BIOS. All parts are brand new. My temps are not abnormal from what I've seen. I tried repairing corrupt files using sfc /scannow and it repaired some files, however I am still getting random BSODs.

The first error was UNEXPECTED_STORE_EXCEPTION (154).

A few days later, I got the error ATTEMPTED_WRITE_TO_READONLY_MEMORY (be).

Now, I just got KERNEL_MODE_HEAP_CORRUPTION (13a).

Dump files below:

61425 UNEXPECTED_STORE_EXCEPTION.txt

61925 ATTEMPTED_WRITE_TO_READONLY_MEMORY.txt

62325 KERNEL_MODE_HEAP_CORRUPTION.txt

    Dear Krystal,

Based on the analysis of the dump files you provided, the variety of Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) errors you're experiencing on your new PC—UNEXPECTED_STORE_EXCEPTION, ATTEMPTED_WRITE_TO_READONLY_MEMORY, and KERNEL_MODE_HEAP_CORRUPTION—strongly suggests a hardware issue, most likely with your RAM or storage drive (SSD/HDD).

Here's a breakdown of what the error messages indicate:

    • ATTEMPTED_WRITE_TO_READONLY_MEMORY (be): This error indicates that a driver attempted to write to a memory area that is not permissible. While a driver is flagged, the inconsistent nature of the BSODs points away from a single faulty driver and more towards system memory instability.
    • KERNEL_MODE_HEAP_CORRUPTION (13a): This signifies that the Windows kernel detected corruption in its memory heap. The process associated with this crash was msedgewebview2, but it is unlikely to be the root cause; rather, it was the victim of the underlying memory corruption.
    • UNEXPECTED_STORE_EXCEPTION (154): This error occurs when the memory manager encounters a critical issue, often related to storage and file system operations. The error code 0xc0000420 indicates an assertion failure , and the faulting process was MemCompression, which manages system memory.

The combination of these memory-centric errors across different system processes (System, msedgewebview2, MemCompression) on a newly built computer makes faulty RAM the most probable culprit. Unstable or defective RAM modules can lead to unpredictable data corruption, manifesting as a wide range of software errors. A failing storage drive could also cause similar issues, but the collection of errors leans more heavily toward a RAM problem

    1. Test Your RAM:
      • Use a memory diagnostic tool to thoroughly test your RAM modules. Windows has a built-in tool called Windows Memory Diagnostic. You can also use a more robust, bootable tool like MemTest86.
      • Run at least a full pass, which can take several hours. Any errors reported by these tools would confirm faulty RAM.
      • If you have more than one RAM stick, test each one individually in each motherboard slot to isolate a faulty module or a bad slot.
    2. Check Storage Drive Health:
      • Use a utility like CrystalDiskInfo to check the health (S.M.A.R.T. status) of your SSD or HDD.
      • Run the chkdsk /f /r command in an elevated Command Prompt to find and repair any disk errors.
    3. Reseat Components:
      • Even if the parts are new, improper seating can cause issues. Power down your PC, unplug it, and carefully reseat your RAM modules and your storage drive's power and data cables.

    Best Regards,
