I have (3) Microsoft Surface computers I purchased new connected to our domain that will not connect to any printer. Downloaded the latest driver on the DC and still no luck. Can't add the printer by IP either computer throws an Error. I have turned the firewall completely off and updated the computer to the latest.

I have reached out to our IT company for assistance and they instructed me to reach out to Microsoft as there, apparently is a setting in the computer blocking it from connecting. I connected with the company that services our copier and they agreed with our IT company's finding.

Hello Christopher Fields,

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

Let's try a few troubleshooting steps below:

1. Run the Windows Printer Troubleshooter:

• Open the Settings app.

• Go to System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.

• Find Printer and click Run.

2. Check Printer Spooler Service:

• Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.

• Find Print Spooler, right-click, and select Restart.

3. Verify Network Settings:

• Ensure your Surface devices are connected to the correct network.

• Check if the printer is accessible from other devices on the same network.

4. Update Printer Drivers:

• Download the latest drivers from the printer manufacturer's website.

• Install them manually on each Surface device.

5. Add Printer via Control Panel:

• Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Add a printer.

• Follow the prompts to add the printer using its IP address.

    Hi Christopher,

Re: "Can't add the printer by IP either computer throws an Error"
Woud you please start by providing the error message. Hopefully an on screen message and a windows event log message recorded at the time.

This information will help narrow down the options.

    Regards,
