this is an old question, but there is a formal answer. SSRS is being sunsetted (frozen), and SQLServer 2022 SSRS is the last version. No updates other than security fixes are planned.
note: the replacement for SSRS is Power BI Report Server.

Per my research, there is no clear roadmap for SSRS Report Viewer Control to Unified .NET platform.
You may follow the latest updates on Release notes for SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
