Hello Team,

Upgraded the Operating System from Windows Server 2012 to Windows Server 2019.

Application pool and Sites are not visible after OS upgrade

Below folders do not exist as per the https://stackoverflow.com/questions/44184699/iis-gone-including-sites-and-application-pools-after-windows-10-creators-updat

Please help what is the fix to make the Application Pools and Sites Visible.

I have same issue. Re-installing IIS still show same issue, no App Pool nor Sites visible.

I was working on IIS a couple of days ago, and everything was running fine. I could see Application Pools and Sites, and I was able to host applications without any issues.

However, after installing a Windows Update yesterday, I noticed that IIS Manager no longer shows App Pools or Sites. The only option visible in the tree is Shared Configuration.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

Disabled and re-enabled IIS through Windows Features.

Uninstalled and reinstalled IIS components.

Factory reset my PC.

Unfortunately, none of these steps worked. I still cannot see Application Pools, Sites, or any other nodes in IIS Manager.

It seems like something got corrupted or removed after the update, because IIS Manager itself opens but shows almost nothing.

I was able to solve the issue by rolling back the update to a previous Restore Point from 08/29/2025. But yeah, this last update from Windows in August 2025 is breaking IIS. I have paused automatic updates for a month now, see if the issue gets resolved with a newer update.

Looks like we may need to uninstall Windows Update KB5064081. Two of my computer return to normal and operational. Internet Information Services Manager back to normal.

I use the Windows 11 Pro on my contract laptop and need the IIS to run some application development.

The kb5064401 bugs is making IIS pool applications and site pool disappear and I cannot run any the apps that I am developing.

参考了上面的讨论，并经过实验，我确定是KB5064081导致的IIS中的应用池和网站不可见。

最开始我是24H2的专业版，已安装8月更新KB5064081和KB5064401。我可以直接卸载更新KB5064401，但无法直接卸载KB5064081。我从《设置>系统>恢复>使用windows更新修复问题>立即重新安装》了24H2(修复版)，然后可以卸载KB5064081，之后IIS显示正常。重新启用更新并再次安装了KB5064081之后，IIS再次不显示应用池和网站。最后我卸载了KB5064081并暂停了更新。

Here are some steps you can try:

Ensure that IIS is still installed on your server. Sometimes, an in-place upgrade can remove certain roles and features.
If IIS is installed but the configuration is missing, you can try restoring it from a backup. IIS configuration files are typically located in the C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv\config directory. If you have a backup of this directory, you can restore it to recover your application pools and sites.
If you don't have a backup, you may need to manually recreate your application pools and sites.
Check the Event Viewer for any errors related to IIS. This can provide more information on what went wrong during the upgrade.
Ensure that the World Wide Web Publishing Service (W3SVC) is running.
If the above steps don't work, you might need to reinstall IIS.

Raised support case and they found that administrator.config has lower version 8.5 and it is updated with 10.0. IIS console opens now.
