I don't want employees to be able to edit documents within the sharepoint library - for example, an expense report. Instead, I would like that master template to be accessible via download only so the master stays in it's original format. I can't find anything in properties that allows the file to be locked from editing - but accessible for download.

    Hi @Kelley Henriott ,

    In SharePoint , if you want users not to have editing permission, but can browse and download documents, you can grant them Read permission.

    Here are steps to set Read permissions for the entire document library:

    1.Setting->Library setting->More library settings->Permissions for this document library->Stop Inheritiong Permissions

    2.select the groups or people you don't want them to edit the documents but allow downloads->Edit User Permissions->Change their permissions to Read.
