Since the Wi‑Fi was upgraded and the printer was already uninstalled and reinstalled, focus on the network connection first, then re-add the printer in Windows 11.

    1. Power-cycle the printer.
      • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
      • Wait 30 seconds.
      • Plug it back in and turn it on.
    2. Confirm the printer is connected to the same Wi‑Fi network as the PC.
      • On the printer, check its built-in Wi‑Fi or network menu/status.
      • If the home network name or password changed during the Wi‑Fi upgrade, reconnect the printer to the new Wi‑Fi.
      • If there are multiple routers, extenders, or separate SSIDs, make sure both the PC and printer are on the same network.
    3. Check the printer connection in Windows 11.
      • Go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
      • See whether the Epson printer appears.
      • If it is listed, open it and check whether jobs are stuck in the queue. If needed, select Open print queue and cancel pending jobs.
    4. Restart the Print Spooler service.
      • Press Windows key + R.
      • Type services.msc and press Enter.
      • Find Print Spooler.
      • Right-click Print Spooler and select Restart.
    5. Remove and add the printer again in Windows 11.
      • Go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
      • Select the Epson printer and remove it.
      • Then select Add device or Refresh.
      • Wait while Windows searches for printers.
      • If the printer appears, select Add device.
      • If it does not appear, select Add manually.
    6. Check the printer itself for hardware-related error conditions.
      • If Windows shows "Printer in error state", check for low ink, low paper, an open cover, or a paper jam.
    7. If the printer still is not found, install the latest printer driver.
      • Windows guidance says most printers require the latest driver to work well.

The message about the ink system needing Wi‑Fi strongly suggests the printer is not fully connected to the new wireless network, even if Wi‑Fi is available in the home. Reconnecting the printer to the updated Wi‑Fi and then adding it again in Printers & scanners is the key step.

What Epson printer do you have? Have you checked the Epson website for updates? I have the Epson XP-7100 and haven't had any problems with mine. What type of Modem/Router do you have? Have you tried connecting it to your router and making it your default printer?

    Hi Andrew,

If you have upgraded your WiFi and the home router was changed, then usually this is not caused by a Windows error, the IP address on the router will be different, you need to setup the WiFi connection on the printer, below is a link to the manual for your printer model, try following the steps on page 77 to setup the network connection on your printer.
