    Hi Sumit,

When you first installed and activated Office that licence should have become associated to your Microsoft Account as a digital licence online and it is from there that you can re-install Office without the need for a product key:

Microsoft 365 normally has no viewable product key after setup; activate Word and Excel by signing in with the Microsoft account that owns the subscription or redeemed Office license.^1^

Check whether you already own Office

    1. Open Word or Excel.
    2. Select File → Account.
    3. Under the product name, check the email address beside Belongs to.
    4. Sign in to the Microsoft account Services & subscriptions page with that same account.
    5. If Microsoft 365 or Office appears there, select Install if needed. Open Word afterward and sign in with the same account to activate it.

Try any other Microsoft accounts that you may have used when the laptop was first configured. Microsoft does not display the full redeemed key in Office or online; the linked account replaces it for activation and reinstallation.^1^

Determine what came with the Dell laptop

The presence of Word or Excel on the laptop does not by itself mean that a paid Office license was included.

    • Word displays an Office offer and asks you to sign in: The laptop may include a digital Office purchase. Sign in with a Microsoft account; the license will be attached to that account. No printed key is supplied.^2^
    • The screen offers “Try,” “Buy,” or “Activate”: This generally means only a trial was preinstalled. Unless Office was listed separately on the store invoice, you need an active Microsoft 365 subscription, a new product-key card, or a one-time Office license.^1^
    • The offline-store invoice explicitly includes Office: Ask the retailer for the original Office card, receipt, or activation details. If it was a digital bundled license and was activated in 2021–22, it should now be associated with the Microsoft account used during that activation.
    • The invoice mentions only Windows: A Windows license does not include Word and Excel; Office must be purchased separately.^3^

If you have an unused product-key card

Look for a 25-character code in this format:

    XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

Carefully remove the silver coating if the card has one, then redeem the key once at Microsoft 365 setup. After redemption, use the associated Microsoft account rather than entering the key again.^1^

If no account shows Office and the invoice does not list a paid Office license, there is no existing Microsoft 365 key to recover; purchase or subscribe to Office to activate editing in Word and Excel.
