Remove the Bluetooth pairing from both the Windows 11 PC and the phone, then pair them again; this directly resolved the same Dynamic Lock symptom where Windows continued recognizing the wrong or previous phone.^1^
Re-pair the phone completely
- On Windows, open Start → Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Devices.
- Find the phone, select More options (…) → Remove device → Yes.
- On the phone, open its Bluetooth settings and forget/remove the Windows PC.
- Turn Bluetooth off on both devices, wait 10 seconds, and turn it back on.
- Put the phone in pairing/discoverable mode and keep its Bluetooth settings screen open.
- On Windows, select Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Add device → Bluetooth, then select the phone.
- Confirm that the pairing code matches on both devices and accept the prompts.
After pairing, return to Settings → Accounts → Sign-in options → Dynamic lock, enable the option allowing Windows to lock automatically, and check whether the phone is now shown.
Dynamic Lock uses the signal from a Bluetooth-paired phone and locks Windows when that signal becomes sufficiently weak and the PC is idle.^2^
If the phone does not appear during pairing
If the PC runs Windows 11 version 24H2, select Show all devices in the Bluetooth discovery window. The initial device list is filtered and might omit devices Windows does not classify as commonly paired accessories.^3^
For versions 22H2 or 23H2, open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Devices and change the device-discovery setting to display all devices.
Also:
- Fully charge the phone.
- Keep it close to the PC while pairing.
- Temporarily disconnect the phone from other Bluetooth hosts that might be reconnecting to it.
- Confirm that the phone is actually in pairing mode; a device that is not in pairing mode normally will not appear under new devices.^4^
If no Bluetooth devices can be detected
Repair the Windows Bluetooth driver:
- Open Start, type Device Manager, and open it.
- Expand Bluetooth.
- Right-click the PC’s Bluetooth adapter and select Update driver → Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart the PC.
If that does not help:
- Return to Device Manager → Bluetooth.
- Right-click the Bluetooth adapter and select Uninstall device.
- Restart Windows; Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.
If the problem began immediately after a Windows or driver update, open the adapter’s Properties → Driver → Roll Back Driver, if that button is available. Otherwise, install the Windows 11 Bluetooth driver for the exact PC model from the PC manufacturer’s support site.^5^
If Bluetooth is missing entirely from Device Manager, select View → Show hidden devices and check whether the adapter appears with an error. A missing adapter or Device Status error indicates a broader adapter/driver problem rather than a Dynamic Lock setting issue.
