Press Fn + F7 repeatedly to cycle through your ASUS VivoBook’s keyboard-backlight brightness levels; on models with separate controls, use Fn + F4 to increase brightness and Fn + F3 to decrease it.^1^
If the shortcut does not work
- Check the top row for a keyboard-backlight symbol, usually an image of a keyboard with light rays:
- Symbol on F7: press
Fn + F7repeatedly. - Symbols on F3/F4: press
Fn + F4to brighten andFn + F3to dim. - If Function Lock is enabled, try the relevant key without Fn.
- Symbol on F7: press
- If none of those keys has the symbol, check the hotkeys section of the user manual for your exact VivoBook model. Some VivoBook configurations do not include backlit-keyboard hardware, even when otherwise similar models do.^1^
- If your model supports backlighting but its documented shortcut does nothing, install the BIOS, Windows packages, and ASUS drivers offered for that exact model. ASUS also documents an EC/RTC hard reset as a later troubleshooting step.^2^
Keyboard brightness is normally controlled by the ASUS hotkeys rather than the Windows 11 Settings > System > Display brightness control, which adjusts the screen instead.
