I installed Windows 11 over a year ago so this is NOT part of the setup. The screen just started to appear today. I thought it may have been part of a recent Windows update, but the last Security Update was October 16th. The only update done yesterday was an Intel Component update.
how do I get rid of the screen about setting up microsoft services
Frequently when I boot my laptop, I get a screen saying "Your're almost done setting up your..." which talks about Microsoft services like "Backing up your files...", "Browse confidently...", "Collaborate in real time...", "Access your phone's...", and "Sign in quickly with touch..."
I cannot get past this screen without answering "Remind me later" or "Continue".
I DO NOT WANT ANY OF THESE. How do I ELIMINATE this screen pop-up?

2026-11-07T17:14:57.55+00:00 Disable the Windows 11 setup suggestions under Settings > System > Notifications > Additional settings so the Microsoft-services screen no longer appears at sign-in.
- Select Start > Settings > System > Notifications.
- Scroll to the bottom and expand Additional settings.
- Clear every setup or suggestion option shown there, especially:
- Suggest ways to get the most out of Windows and finish setting up this device
- Show the Windows welcome experience after updates and when signed in to show what’s new and suggested
- Get tips and suggestions when using Windows
- Close Settings. A restart normally is not required; restart only if the screen appears again.
Microsoft documents the latter two controls in this location under Windows 11 notification settings.^1^ The exact wording and number of checkboxes can vary by Windows 11 build, so disable all options in Additional settings that mention finishing setup, welcome experiences, tips, or suggestions.
This does not disable OneDrive, Microsoft 365, Phone Link, Windows Hello, or other services themselves—it stops Windows from repeatedly offering to configure them.
If the screen continues
- Return to Settings > System > Notifications > Additional settings and see whether the options remained cleared. Do not turn off all notifications; that is broader than necessary.
- Open Settings > Windows Update, install available updates, and restart when prompted.
- Press Windows key + R, enter
winver, and note the Windows version and OS build. - If the checkboxes do not retain their state or the full-screen prompt still returns, open Start, search for Get Help, and report:
- The text “You’re almost done setting up your device”
- The version and build from
winver - Whether the Additional settings checkboxes remain cleared
That provides Microsoft Support with the information needed to investigate a setting-retention or build-specific issue.

Welcome to the Microsoft Windows Community.
Good afternoon. @ced2 . Based on your description, please be aware that this is a standard Windows 11 setup step. Simply wait for the process to complete and decline any services you do not wish to use; once that is done, this screen will not appear again.
