Use Microsoft’s Dynamics 365 partner directory to engage a consultant who explicitly supports Dynamics NAV 2017, and request a paid, company-specific training and process-assessment engagement. ^1^
How to arrange the tutoring
- Open Dynamics 365 Partners and search for providers in your country or region.
- Shortlist partners that mention:
- Dynamics NAV or Business Central
- NAV 2017 on-premises
- Your industry
- Functional consulting and end-user training
- C/AL development, if your installation is customized
- Ask each partner for a discovery meeting and provide:
- Your NAV 2017 country/localized version
- The modules used—Finance, Sales, Purchasing, Inventory, Manufacturing, Jobs, or Service
- Your role and current knowledge
- Business processes you want to improve
- Existing customizations and third-party extensions
- Whether training can use a safe copy or test environment rather than production
- Request a written training plan with defined outcomes, duration, price, and whether sessions will be recorded.
- Ask for two separate workstreams if necessary:
- Functional training: daily workflows, setup, posting, reporting, and controls.
- Technical training: administration, permissions, integrations, C/AL objects, debugging, upgrades, and customization.
NAV 2017 was distributed through Microsoft Dynamics Certified Partners, whose role included planning, implementation, customization, and support, so a NAV/Business Central partner is the appropriate route for tailored assistance. ^2^
If the Dynamics-specific search does not produce a suitable NAV specialist, use Microsoft’s broader partner directory and include “Dynamics NAV 2017” and your country in the request. ^3^
Suggested request to send
We use Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017 on-premises and need personalized training based on our company’s processes. We require instruction in [modules/processes], using a test environment where possible. Our system has [standard/no/customized] functionality. Please confirm your NAV 2017 experience and propose a discovery session, training plan, duration, deliverables, and cost.
Do not include confidential customer, employee, financial, credential, or production-database information in the initial enquiry.
Plan for the product lifecycle
Dynamics NAV 2017 is already in extended support and reaches the end of support on January 11, 2027. ^4^ Include an upgrade-readiness discussion in the engagement, even if the immediate objective is only NAV training.
If migration is relevant, NAV 2017 cannot move directly to the latest Business Central release. Microsoft documents an upgrade path through Business Central version 14, with C/AL customizations converted to AL extensions. ^5^ This should be assessed separately from training because custom code and integrations can materially affect the scope.
Microsoft Learn’s current Dynamics learning catalog focuses mainly on Dynamics 365 and Business Central rather than personalized NAV 2017 instruction. It can supplement partner-led tutoring, particularly if your longer-term plan includes Business Central. ^6^
