Hi,

This is often the case with airpods as Windows does not fully support Apple's Bluetooth implementation. That said, you can try the following steps and see if it helps:

  • Disconnect your airpods to your other devices
  • Place AirPods back into the charging case with th elid open.
  • Press and hold the setup button on the back of the AirPods case for about 5 seconds, or until the status light flashes white.
  • Press Windows + I on your computer to open Settings.
  • Navigate to Bluetooth & devices
  • Turn Bluetooth off and back on
  • Select Add device > Bluetooth
  • Wait for AirPods Pro to appear and select it

Yes, Bluetooth earbuds can appear under a generic or unknown name instead of their brand name.

For Windows 11, try this in order:

    1. Turn off nearby Bluetooth devices so only the earbuds are discoverable.
    2. Put the earbuds into pairing mode. For Apple earbuds, they typically need to be in the charging case with the lid open and the pairing button held until the light flashes.
    3. On the PC, go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Devices.
    4. Under Device settings, change Bluetooth devices discovery to Advanced so Windows shows all types of Bluetooth devices.
    5. If the earbuds appear with a generic name, select that device and try pairing.
    6. If they still do not appear, go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices and turn Bluetooth off, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on.
    7. Make sure Airplane mode is off from the taskbar quick settings.
    8. Charge the earbuds, keep them close to the PC, and try again.
    9. If the device shows up but will not connect, remove it and add it again:
      • Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices
      • Find the device
      • Select More options (...) > Remove device
      • Select Add device and pair again
    10. Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter in the Get Help app.
    11. Check for Windows updates at Start > Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.

If Windows shows several Unknown device entries, isolating the earbuds by turning off other nearby Bluetooth devices and switching discovery to Advanced is the recommended way to identify them.
