Hello, I am no longer able to insert images saved on my device into my Word documents using the usual method. I have not changed any settings whatsoever. Thank you.

Are you using the desktop application?

Which version of Word/Office?

I have no trouble here. What is your usual method? Which steps do you take?

A couple that work for me:

  1. Insert (tab) > Pictures > On this device
  2. Find the image in Explorer and click on it to select, Ctrl+C to copy, Ctrl+V to paste, resize if needed.

Note that Word is a poor image editor. If possible, create the image as you want it in your document and then copy and paste or insert.

Dear @Sapphire Stella

I recommend testing whether the issue affects one document or Word generally:

  1. Create a new blank document and try inserting a different image using Insert > Pictures.
  2. If it fails, try a standard JPG or PNG saved in a local folder. If the image is stored in OneDrive or iCloud, download it fully first.
  3. As a temporary workaround, try copying the image and pasting it into Word.

To help me narrow down the cause, could you confirm:

  • Are you using Word on Windows or a web browser?
  • Is Pictures unavailable, does nothing happen when you select the image, or do you receive an error?
  • Does this happen in all documents or only one?

If an error appears, please share its exact wording or a screenshot with personal information hidden.
