Open the Surface app, expand Device information, and read Surface model to determine whether it is a Surface Pro 6 or Surface Pro 7.^1^

1. Select Start and type Surface.
2. Open the Surface app.
3. Expand Device information.
4. Check the value beside Surface model.

If the app is not installed, install Surface from the Microsoft Store, then repeat those steps.

Alternatives

• System Information: Select Start, type System Information, open it, and check System Model or System SKU. This is a separate desktop tool—not the regular Settings → System page.^1^
• Microsoft account: Sign in to the Microsoft account Devices page, locate the Surface, and select Info & support. If it is not listed, choose Register device and enter its serial number.^1^
• Find the serial number: Open the kickstand and look near its base. The serial number is generally a 12-digit number or a 14-character alphanumeric code. It can also be found in the Surface app under Device information.^2^

Do not post the serial number publicly.
