I have an ongoing problem that my Personal Azure account (gmail) is being treated like it is an enterprise account which is preventing me from logging into my Azure account.

I'm unable to access the Engage center. I get this error message.

If I try to "switch tenants", I only see one tenant listed and if I try to switch to that I get the same error message.

    Hi @Lars Liden,

The screenshot shows that the current sign-in page accepts only a work or school account. This does not necessarily mean the Gmail-based Microsoft account has been converted into an enterprise account. The browser may be using the wrong Microsoft identity, tenant, or cached sign-in session.

To better understand the issue, could you please confirm:

    • Can the same Gmail address sign in successfully at account.microsoft.com?
    • Does the error also occur in an InPrivate/Incognito window?
    • When you enter the Gmail address, are you prompted to choose between a Personal account and a Work or school account?
    • Has this Gmail address previously been invited as a guest to a Microsoft Entra organization?
    • Were you previously able to access the Azure subscription using this same account?

These details will help determine whether the issue is related to a cached sign-in session, the selected account identity, or the Microsoft Entra directory associated with the Azure subscription.

    Please try the following

    1. Open an InPrivate/Incognito browser window and go directly to Azure portal.
    2. Enter the Gmail address and, if prompted to choose an account type, select Personal account.
    3. If the wrong identity is selected automatically, clear Microsoft cookies or try another browser. Microsoft specifically recommends private browsing or clearing cookies when Azure automatically signs in as another user.
    4. Confirm that the Gmail address can still sign in successfully at Microsoft account. This verifies that the address is recognized as a personal Microsoft account. Microsoft distinguishes personal accounts from organization-managed work or school accounts.

If the error appears immediately even in a private window, please check whether the address was previously invited as a guest to another organization. A personal Microsoft account can also exist as a guest account in a Microsoft Entra organization, but the personal identity and guest identity remain separate.

Thank you again for your time and understanding. I really appreciate your patience, and I’m here to help. Looking forward to your response.
