The Teams Meeting buttons cannot be enabled with your Microsoft 365 Family/Teams Free personal account; create the meeting in Teams for personal use instead, then share its link or use the synchronized Outlook calendar entry.
Microsoft explicitly states that the Teams Meeting add-in is unavailable for Teams personal-use accounts ^1^. Therefore, the greyed-out controls are not caused by Windows 10 or a damaged installation. Reinstalling Microsoft 365 or Teams, changing registry entries, and clearing credentials will not make this account type eligible.
Create the meeting with your current subscription
- Open Microsoft Teams for personal use and sign in with the same personal Microsoft account used for your Family subscription.
- Select Meet.
- Select Create a meeting link.
- Enter a descriptive meeting title.
- Under Meeting links, select Share link and send it to the attendees ^2^.
Microsoft also documents that meetings created through Teams personal can synchronize to the Outlook desktop calendar ^3^.
If creating meetings directly in Outlook is required
That workflow requires an eligible Exchange-based Microsoft 365 work account with Teams—not Microsoft 365 Family or Teams Free. Outlook and Teams must both be signed in with that commercial account ^3^.
If you later obtain such an account, add its Exchange mailbox to Outlook and use that mailbox’s calendar when creating the meeting. Only then would add-in troubleshooting or an organization’s Teams meeting policies become relevant; the add-in requires an Exchange mailbox for the organizer ^4^.
