    Dear @Sparta UMC,

    I hope you’re having a good day.

The best recovery option depends on what access you still have.

If this is a Microsoft 365 business account, my first recommendation is to contact your organization's Microsoft 365 administrator or IT department. In many cases, they can quickly look up the account and confirm the username or email address associated with you.

If you’re unsure who your administrator is, this article may help: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin?

If you're the administrator yourself but don't remember the account details, try checking any previous Microsoft 365 emails, invoices, subscription confirmations, or billing records. These often contain the username, tenant name, or domain information needed to identify the account.

If there are other users in the organization who can still sign in, they may be able to tell you the company's Microsoft 365 domain name or the format used for user accounts, which can help narrow down the correct username.

If you are the only administrator and no one in the organization can access the tenant, the situation becomes an account recovery scenario. In that case, I would recommend contacting Microsoft Support, as they may be able to guide you through the ownership verification process and help identify the account associated with your subscription.

To help point you in the right direction, could you let me know whether you are:

    • The Microsoft 365 administrator for the organization, or
    • An end user trying to access a company account?

Please understand that our initial response does not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

Looking forward to hearing back from you with any updates or additional details.

    Warm regards,

For a Microsoft 365 business account, the username is the work or school account assigned by the organization, such as ******@contoso.onmicrosoft.com or ******@contoso.com.

Ways to recover or find it:

    1. Contact the Microsoft 365 administrator. The admin can retrieve the username and reset the password for the work or school account.
    2. Check an installed Office app. If Microsoft 365 or Office 2016 or newer is installed:
      • Open Word, Excel, or PowerPoint.
      • Select File.
      • Select Account.
      • Under Product Information, view the account the product is licensed to.
    3. If this is the original Microsoft 365 business admin account, check the introductory email sent to the alternate email address used during sign-up. That email includes the user ID and the sign-in URL.
    4. If the administrator is unknown, contact the organization’s help desk, technical support team, business owner, or the person who originally provided the account information.

If the username is known but the password is forgotten, password reset may be available at https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com/, but only if the admin has allowed self-service password reset.
