Additional chat-related features and issues within Microsoft Teams for business
Hi @Gowtham K
Currently, I have not found a Microsoft-native solution that can perform a complete tenant-to-tenant Teams migration while preserving the full team structure, channels, channel conversations, replies, memberships, files, and historical context.
From what I understand, Migration Orchestrator supports workloads such as Exchange mailboxes, OneDrive, Teams chats, and Teams meetings. It is designed for user-centric workload migrations and is not documented as a solution for migrating shared collaboration data such as Teams structures, channels, or SharePoint team/channel sites.
You can refer via: Migration Orchestrator overview
Additionally, other Microsoft-native options each address only specific parts of the migration, for example:
SharePoint cross-tenant migration: Focuses on migrating SharePoint content, including files associated with Teams. It is a separate workload with its own requirements and does not recreate Teams conversations or automatically relink files to historical messages.
Microsoft Graph migration APIs: Can be used to create Teams and channels, and import historical messages into Teams. This approach supports preserving message attribution and historical timestamps during migration scenarios. However, it requires custom development and thorough validation, and is not intended as a complete end-to-end tenant-to-tenant Teams migration solution. As a result, some Teams experiences and content types may not be preserved with full fidelity after migration.
Please note that this summary is based on my own research and understanding of the currently available Microsoft documentation, so it may not fully address all aspects of your specific migration scenario. Since migration capabilities and limitations can vary depending on the workloads involved, your tenant configuration, and business requirements, I would recommend engaging Microsoft Support for more detailed guidance and validation of your migration plan.
