Additional sign-in or account-related issues within Microsoft Teams for Education
This is most likely a device or account access restriction on the Chromebook, not a problem with Teams itself.
Try this in order:
- Use Teams on another platform If Teams is blocked on that Chromebook, try signing in from another device or use the web app at https://teams.microsoft.com.
- Make sure the correct account is being used If Teams shows the wrong profile or missing school features, sign in with the school account, not a personal Microsoft account. Signs of the wrong account include missing school assignments, missing class content, and not being able to join teams or meetings with a code.
- Restart or reload Teams If using the app, close and reopen it. If using the browser, reload the page.
- Try another Teams platform If the browser version is blocked or not working on that Chromebook, try desktop or mobile instead.
- Update Teams In Teams, select More options > Check for updates.
- If the issue is only with that school-managed Chromebook, contact the school IT admin that manages the device Teams for Education access and permissions can be controlled by an institution’s IT administrator. If the Chromebook belongs to another school, that school may have restricted access on the device.
- If the account itself cannot access Teams, contact the school IT admin for the school account School IT admins can verify access, updates, and permissions for Teams for Education.
If Teams works in Microsoft 365 apps like Word or OneDrive but not in Teams, also check whether the browser session is signed in with the wrong account and retry in a private/incognito browser window.
