For a USB microphone on Windows 11, first confirm that Windows is using the correct input device and that the input level is turned up.
- Connect the Stagg microphone to the laptop.
- Open Start > Settings > System > Sound.
- In Input, select the Stagg USB microphone under Choose a device for speaking or recording.
- Select > next to that microphone to open its properties.
- Under Input settings, increase the Input volume slider.
- Select Start test, speak into the microphone, then select Stop test and Play to check whether sound was recorded.
If the microphone still does not work:
- Make sure the microphone is connected correctly.
- If the microphone has a mute switch or button, make sure it is not muted.
- Try a different USB port on the laptop.
- In Settings > System > Sound, make sure the Stagg microphone is the selected default input device.
- Run the audio troubleshooter from Settings > System > Sound. Under Advanced, choose Input devices or All sound devices under Troubleshoot common sound problems.
If Windows does not detect the USB microphone at all, reinstall the audio drivers:
- Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
- Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
- Right-click the audio device and select Uninstall device.
- If shown, select the option to remove the driver, then select Uninstall.
- Restart the laptop.
- Open Device Manager again, then right-click Sound, video and game controllers and select Scan for hardware changes.
- Right-click the audio driver and select Update driver.
If the microphone is detected but the level is still too low, open More sound settings, go to the Recording tab, select the microphone, choose Properties > Levels, and adjust Microphone and Microphone Boost if available.
