Hello maroner pierre,
When Windows Security specifically displays “Restart required,” you should restart the computer. Although not every threat removal requires a restart, this message means Microsoft Defender still has a pending action that needs the restart to complete.
After restarting, open Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Protection history, expand the relevant detection, and check its current status. If it shows Threat quarantined, the item has been isolated but may still need you to select Remove. If it shows Threat blocked, Defender has already blocked and removed the threat.
If the same file is still visible in the Downloads folder, please do not open or run it. Check whether its name and path match the item shown in Protection history, then follow the action displayed there.
You can find more details here: Protection History in the Windows Security app Thank you so much for your understanding.
