We were notified that our Outlook subscription had expired and that the card associated with the account needs to be updated. When I attempted to update the card, it showed that the card that was expired, expired in 2018!

To better understand what is happening, could you please check the following while signed in with the Microsoft account associated with your Outlook service? Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services and tell me what subscription is listed there and its current status (Active, Expired, Past due, etc.).

Check https://account.microsoft.com/billing/orders and confirm whether you see any recent Microsoft 365 or Outlook-related charge. How did you receive the notification that the subscription had expired — by email, inside Outlook, or on the Microsoft account website?

If possible, please share a screenshot of the notification and the subscription status, but make sure to hide your email address, payment information, order numbers, and any other personal information.

The fact that Microsoft is showing a card that expired in 2018 does not necessarily mean that it is the payment method currently being used, so these details will help determine whether this is a billing issue, an old payment method still stored on the account.
