I was recently reviewing some emails in my Outlook desktop app. As soon as I would click on one in my inbox and it opens in the reading pane, became read, it would literally disappear before I could even move my mouse/cursor. Yes, I checked my Archive and my Deleted folders - not there. There are so many 'settings' to check and when I checked on them, they were all set the way they were supposed to be and yet it keeps happening! This is extremely frustrating! Can anyone help???? I NEVER had this happen with the Classic Outlook! Thank you!!!!!

    Welcome HanksMom,

Please note that our forum is a public platform, and we will modify your question to hide your personal information in the description. Kindly ensure that you hide any personal or organizational information the next time you post an error or other details to protect personal data.

I understand how frustrating this must be, especially when messages disappear immediately after you click them and you are unable to locate them afterward.

Before suggesting more advanced troubleshooting, I'd like to narrow down the cause with a few quick checks:

Could you please check the following?

    • When the message disappears, does it also disappear from Outlook on the web when you sign in at https://outlook.live.com/ using the same account?
    • Are you using a personal account, or is this an email account provided by an organization, ISP, or other email provider?
    • In New Outlook, click the Search box and search for the subject of one of the missing emails. Does Outlook find it in another folder?
    • Do only unread emails disappear after being marked as read, or can already-read emails disappear as well?

    Looking forward to your update.
