Computability issue with tablet/ Lenovo Yoga tab plus

I have a Lenovo Yoga Tab Plus tablet. My understanding is that when using Microsoft Office apps downloaded onto devices with screens of 10.1 inches or larger, editing capabilities may be limited compared to using the apps on a standard mobile phone.

However, I am experiencing the following issues:

When I use Microsoft apps online (for example, Word Online), the text editing behaves incorrectly. For example, if I type "Hi George", parts of the text (such as "George") are automatically deleted or overwritten while I am typing.

When I open a document from OneDrive and try to edit it, I am sometimes redirected back to the OneDrive web interface instead of remaining in the document editor.

Could you please advise what I need to do to resolve these compatibility issues? The tablet itself appears to work correctly, as applications such as Google Sheets function perfectly without any editing problems.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thank you.

On Android tablets, basic editing is available for free only on devices with screen sizes of 10.1 inches or less. Extra editing features require a qualifying Microsoft 365 subscription. Microsoft also states that some qualifying plans allow editing in the Microsoft 365 mobile apps up to 10.9 inches, while non-qualifying plans are limited to 10.1 inches.

For the behavior described on the Lenovo Yoga Tab Plus:

    1. Use the installed Microsoft 365/Word app instead of Word in the browser for editing whenever possible. The documented guidance indicates mobile editing support is tied to the mobile apps, and a similar reported case on Android tablet browser editing was identified as a likely bug or limitation in the interaction between Word for the web and mobile browsers.
    2. Check whether the Microsoft 365 subscription qualifies for editing on a larger tablet screen. If the plan is non-qualifying, editing on a tablet above the supported screen-size limit can be restricted.
    3. Test with a new blank document and with a saved copy of the affected file. This helps determine whether the issue is browser/device related or specific to one document.
    4. Clear browser cache/data and install all available Android and app updates. A similar Android tablet browser-editing case recommended both steps.
    5. If OneDrive redirects back to the web interface, open the file directly in the Word app rather than continuing in the browser. That aligns with the documented mobile-app editing path.
    6. If editing is still required in a browser, use a desktop or laptop for Word for the web tasks. A similar case indicates the full browser editor is primarily designed for desktop browsers, and mobile browser editing on Android tablets can have deep incompatibility issues.

Also check the file format if a specific document fails to edit correctly in Word on mobile:

    • .docx: supported for open and edit
    • .doc: read-only on mobile; update to .docx to edit
    • .docm: not editable on mobile
    • .odt: read-only on mobile; update to .docx to edit

If the tablet screen is above the supported limit for the current subscription, the practical resolution is to use:

    • the Microsoft 365/Word Android app with a qualifying subscription, or
    • a desktop browser for Word for the web editing.
