Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!
Thank you for taking the time to provide those details.
Based on the description, I would like to clarify that being the sole user of a device does not automatically mean the account has local administrator privileges.
Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra (Azure AD) administrative roles are separate from local Windows administrator rights. As a result, an account can have access to organizational resources while still being configured as a Standard User on the device. This is common on company-managed computers where administrative privileges are controlled through organizational security policies.
To verify your account type:
- Open Settings -> Accounts -> Your info.
- Check whether your account is listed as Administrator or Standard User.
If your account is listed as a Standard User, actions such as installing software, changing certain system settings, or managing other user accounts will require administrator credentials.
- If this is a company-managed device, local administrator rights may have been intentionally restricted by your organization's IT policies. In that situation, I recommend contacting your IT administrator to request the necessary permissions or to have your account added to the local Administrators group.
- If this is a personal device and no administrator account is available, you may need to use Windows recovery options or reset/reinstall Windows to recreate an administrator account during setup.
