Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
I can't give you a product key, and Microsoft Q&A volunteers can't either. Microsoft 365 for students usually doesn't need a key. It activates when you sign in with the right account. Here is what to try.
1. Check if your school gives you Office for free Many schools and colleges give students Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for free with a school email address.
- Sign up or check here: https://www.microsoft.com/education/products/office
- Ask your school's IT department if your school provides it and how to install it.
2. Sign in to activate Word or Excel
- Open Word or Excel.
- Go to File > Account and select Sign in.
- Use your school email (or the Microsoft account that has the license).
- Restart the app if it still says "not activated".
3. If you don't have a school license
- You can use Word and Excel online for free at https://www.office.com by signing in with a Microsoft account.
- Microsoft also has student pricing for some university students: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/college-student-pricing
Please avoid "free product keys" or cracks from websites. They are often fake and can contain viruses.
To help you further, please tell me:
- What message you see in Word or Excel (a screenshot is helpful, but hide any personal details).
- Whether you have a school email address, and which country you are in.
- Which Windows version you use.
