False Positive Microsoft Defender SmartScreen Warning for Legitimate Azure Container Apps URL
We are experiencing an issue where Microsoft Defender SmartScreen is incorrectly flagging our Azure-hosted web application as unsafe.
Affected URL: https://xyz.eastus.azurecontainerapps.io
Issue Description: The application is hosted on Microsoft Azure Container Apps and is being actively used for application testing and authentication workflows. However, when users access the application, Microsoft Defender SmartScreen displays a red warning page stating:
"This site has been reported as unsafe" "It has been reported to Microsoft for containing misleading content that could lead you to lose personal information, financial data, and even money."
As a result, users are prevented from accessing the application and may assume the site is malicious, despite it being a legitimate application hosted within our Azure subscription.
Request: We request Microsoft Security Intelligence and Defender SmartScreen teams to:
- Investigate the reason for the unsafe classification.
- Confirm whether the URL, domain reputation, application behavior, or specific content triggered the detection.
- Review the site for false-positive detection.
- Remove the SmartScreen warning if no malicious activity is identified.
- Provide guidance on any remediation actions required from our side.
- Will this happen in future again?
