When will claude-opus-5-5 have web search enabled (i.e. support tool use) via the Foundry API key?

Only some models support tool use at the moment and so would like an update for when Opus 5.5 has it enabled.

There is no published date for when claude-opus-5-5 web search or broader tool use will be enabled specifically via a Foundry API key.

    What is currently documented:

    • claude-opus-5-5 is available in Microsoft Foundry as Hosted on Azure and Hosted on Anthropic infrastructure.
    • Claude models support tool use features, including web search.
    • For Hosted on Azure deployments, only the web_search_20250305 tool version is supported.
    • Microsoft documentation does not provide a rollout date tied to claude-opus-5-5 and Foundry API key access.
    • Similar Microsoft Q&A responses state that when a web search feature is not yet available in Azure, Microsoft has not published an ETA and updates are announced through official release documentation.

So the current answer is: claude-opus-5-5 has documented Claude tool capabilities, but no official availability date is published for web search enablement through the Foundry API key path.
